Richard D. Taylor, Principal

Richard Taylor has served more than 40 organizations during a career spanning three decades in fundraising counsel and institutional advancement, including direction and management of capital, endowment and comprehensive campaigns with objectives ranging from hundreds of thousands of dollars well into eight-figures. He joined the national consulting firm Ketchum, Incorporated in 1981, following a 14-year career as a teacher and coach in secondary and higher education. His career also includes serving as Executive Director of the Brown University Sports Foundation in Providence, Rhode Island, Vice President of Financial Development for the YMCA of Florida's First Coast in Jacksonville, Florida, and independent counsel.


Over the course of this diverse and varied career, Richard has provided a wide array of assistance and counsel to colleagues and clients alike: from facilitating orientation and training sessions, to drafting directives and how-to manuals; and from mentoring and coaching, to soliciting and guiding others in the solicitation of six- and seven-figure major gifts.


In January 2011, he launched Richard Taylor Associates, a consultancy providing solutions to the financial support and governance challenges facing nonprofit organizations. Located in St. Augustine, Florida, Richard is available for introductory discussions at no obligation concerning how the firm could be of assistance to the nonprofit community and specific nonprofit organizations. 


A native of Worthington, Ohio, Richard is a graduate of Otterbein University in Westerville and earned his master's degree from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green. He also completed graduate courses at the Ohio State University in Columbus. Richard is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida, the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning (PPP) and the Planned Giving Council of Northeast Florida.
